Hedgehog Diet

Hedgehogs are natural insectivores in the wild. Their diet consists of :

• Earthworms

• Beetles  & Larvae

• Caterpillars 

• Millipedes

• Eggs & Carrion

• Slugs & Snails

Whilst it is believed that hedgehogs eat only slugs and snails, it only forms a very small part of their diet. Slugs also carry lungworm which could get passed on to the hedgehogs. Lungworm can be a life threatening condition resulting in pneumonia and death when not treated.
